Provocation with a tape measure

The children have been using many words of measurement
and comparing sizes with many items in the classroom.

"I want mine to be taller."

              "Yours is shorter."

                "This tower is a 30."

                 Recording our data

The children measured the pendulum, shelves,
and towers. Look closely for the representations of these
items seen written before the numbers.

A Sewing Experience

Today we worked on creating a pillow on a sewing machine. The children picked their fabric, pinned it in place, and used the foot pedal to sew a pillow along with adding stuffing.

Remi's Dad Teaches Soccer Skills During Small Capers

The children were so excited to have Remi's dad visit today. He is a professional soccer coach who came in to teach them soccer skills. They learned that it is more important to keep the ball close than to kick it away. There were a lot of smiles and determination as the time went on. Today was an awesome day!!

"This is really hard work." - Grace

A small group of children went to the Atelier to take some machines apart. Before we started,
We discussed some of the tools we saw when we arrived.

Wrench: turns wheels and helps get things off
    Hammer: puts nails down
Screwdriver: To take screws in and out (one is flat that we call pointy, one is bigger that is circlie)
Measurer: how long, wide, or tall something is, you can also count

            Observations:
         "It weighs 15." - Charlotte
"It's too tight in there." - Colman
"Mr. Johnny uses these tools." - Grace
"Why do none of these have batteries except standing ones?" - Billy
"Look at all the wires in there!"
         "Use strong muscles." - Colman
