First Forest Friday

Today was our very first Forest Friday!

Before entering the forest we talked about a few ways to keep our forest safe. 

Ask your student if they remember all the ways!

There was climbing..

There was running.. 

There was help keeping our forest clean..

There was nature.. 

And there were SO many smiles!

Can you build a ramp?

Can you build a ramp? 

We took out blocks and friends wanted to build a ramp SO big that cars would travel down our new steps outside. 

What size blocks do you need?

Will your ramp go all the way to the top? 

AG and MP noticed that their blocks wouldn't stay up by themselves.

"We need more blocks to help it stay up." AG

Three of our friends went inside and grabbed more blocks to help make their structure bigger and sturdier. 

It was trial and error. The first time TW tried dropping the car down the ramp it fell right off, OH NO!

Where did your car stop?

Friends talked and realized a piece of their ramp needed to be more flat because the car kept falling off. 

They tried fixing it by putting more blocks underneath so the ramp could lean more. 

One friend tried using a tunnel to have the blocks lean on it.

And they tried again and again. 

One friend added support underneath their ramp by stacking blocks on top of each other. 

They made tunnels!

 

And finally, their car went down the ramp!

It was SO tricky but they tried, changed, worked together the whole entire time we were outside.

Making Play-Doh!

Birch Room had our very first fire drill today and they did such an awesome job!

We talked about how our voices are at a level zero to keep everyone safe. We line up by the outside door behind one teacher. We stick together and follow the teacher then line up quietly against the fence. 

A small group of friends visited the kid kitchen and made play dough!

 

We poured. 

We filled.

We stirred.
