Can you build letters out of nature?

The Birch room has been learning about letters and how to spell our names. Today we walked to the forest and students took turns making letters out of nature on the pergola. While in the forest, the children got to play together and climb their favorite trees.  They discovered new secret hiding spots and dug in the dirt. Ask your children tonight where their favorite spot is in the forest.

Sandbox Fun

Good afternoon! Today we enjoyed building in the classroom with magnetic blocks and wooden blocks. Some of our class worked hard on creating a big spaceship out of magnetic blocks and some worked on creating a ramp with wooden blocks. Some of our friends even decided to measure their ramp with a big yard stick and blocks! When we went to the sandbox area our class played a family game, pretended to make food with sand and sandbox toys, and played hide and go seek. We really enjoy exploring the sandbox area and pretend playing outside! Have a great evening.

Shape Bingo

Happy Friday! Our class enjoyed spending time outside today exploring the cave area of the playscape. We played a shape and color Bingo game where everyone had to listen carefully to both the shape and color to mark it on their Bingo card. We even took turns letting some of the class call out the color and shape on the card while playing Bingo. Some of our class enjoyed playing a family game and playing hide and go seek.  We also had time to build outside with small wooden blocks and animals. Ask your child about their favorite part of today. Have a great weekend!

Alphabet Wall

Today in the Birch Room we finished our alphabet wall. Each student got to take turns painting the cardboards and creating letters from different materials.  We have been working on this project for weeks and we were ready to hang the last letter. After hanging our last letter, we sang the alphabet song.

“Now all the letters in the alphabet are up!” -B.

T. is making sure all the letters are up.

M.S. is practicing cutting with scissors.

A. and T. are creating something new using different materials.

S. and F. Are building with legos on the light table.

Wednesday Exploration

Happy Wednesday! Our class decided to make a treasure bag for another classroom while we were outside. They decided that the treasure would be pieces of nature they found on the playscape such as leaves, sticks, and a rock. First, we picked up the treasure and put in the bag labeled "You found our treasure!" then we had to find a good hiding spot for it. Our class thought that under the pergola area would be a good spot to hide the treasure. We placed the bag behind the pergola beam and then decided to make maps to help the other class find our treasure. Our maps turned out great and we left them with a sign saying "Can you find our treasure?" Hopefully tomorrow we will hear back from the Willow class on if they found our treasure bag!

Working hard on our treasure maps!

B. worked hard writing a note to go along with our maps!

A. and M.S. made soup with leaves and water then stirred it with sticks.

We also worked hard on making bridges and balancing on them!
