Forest Scavenger Hunt

Today we walked to the Forest with Ms. Katie. Ms. Brittany found a scavenger hunt for our class to do while we explored nature. Groups of two went through the forest looking for items on the list and eagerly checked them off. Of course, we also had plenty of time to climb trees, run on the paths, and play hide and seek. Ask your child what they found in the forest.

“I’m higher than you!” -S.

“I can climb down,” -F.

“I climbing toward you!”-M.R.

“Me too!” - A.

“Flowers!” -T.

“Check the flowers!” -T.

“We already have the log checked off!” -A. and M.S.

“I’m getting down!” -M.Y.

“We are trying to look for something,” -M.Y.

Water Exploration

Good afternoon! Today we enjoyed exploring something new on the light table. When our class came in they noticed that their were four different colored waters in clear jars with eye droppers. They explored how to use an eye dropper and helped show each other how to fill it up with colored water. Our class noticed that when they mixed the different colors of water they could make new colors. One child said "Stir this up and we can make orange!" another child said "Look, I mixed these together to make a dark green!" They enjoyed exploring these new materials and seeing what colors they could make with our blue, green, purple, and pink water. We also spent a lot of time outside exploring on the hillside and we played a find your name game! Ask your child about their favorite part of today.

Exploring the Neighborhood

Happy Friday! Today we enjoyed taking a walk around the neighborhood to see what we notice. Our class noticed different holiday decorations on houses, people taking dogs on walks, and different buildings that we walked past. While we were on our walk a firetruck and two ambulances passed by us and waved, honked their horns, and flashed their lights. Our class was excited to see these vehicles and we decided to walk past the firehouse on our way back to school! Ask your child about their favorite part of our walk. Have a great weekend!

Painting with Magnets

Today we used magnets, paint, and paper clips to create our own works of art! Each child got to experience moving the big magnet under the paper and seeing the paper clip move around in the paint to make art. Some of our class said "This is magic!" and "Wow, this magnet is really strong!" They also wondered "How does it move like that under the paper?" It's amazing seeing and hearing each child's different wonderings and excitements about magnets. We also spent time exploring the hillside and the big snail area. Our class enjoyed our dice rolling game and doing the Bean Bag Bop song! Have a great evening.

Magnet Sensory Bottle Exploration

Today when each child arrived they noticed something new in the classroom, a magnet sensory bottle! This sensory bottle was filled with water and small colorful circles that have a metal outside. Each child had a chance to use the magnet wand on our sensory bottle and see what happened. Some of our classes noticing's and wonderings about the sensory bottle were:
"Hey, how do they stick like that?" -F
"These stick to the magnet!" -M.Y.
"First they go up and then they fall down!" -M.S.
"When they fall it looks like it's raining!" -A
"Wow, they really do stick! How do they do that?" -B
"Look, they can get stuck up at the top!" -S
"I can use three magnets to make them all go up!" -T

We will continue to explore with magnets and find out different ways to use them inside and outside the classroom. We also enjoyed building puzzles, exploring the mud kitchen, and playing hide and go seek outside.
