There is a monster in the Forest!

Beware...

THERE ARE MONSTERS IN THE FOREST! We left on a hunt to find habitats in our forest, and stumbled upon a witch making monsters.

Run, run as fast as you can - AD and MP will catch you if they can!

Walking with a purpose.

During meeting today we talked about what it means to be a Birch Room Friend. What should our bodies, brains, and hearts do? After much conversation we decided Birch Friends...

Help Others.

Are Kind to Everyone.

Clean Up.

Take Care (of ourselves, others, our classroom, our whole world).

Stick Together, Always.

Show Respect.

These agreements inspired us, so we decided to add a little intentional practice into our weekly walk.

We put on our "observation hats" and turned them WAY up! We were walking with two purposes. 1. Find places things can live in our neighborhood 2. Be the best Birch Room Friend we could be.

Check out our photos and videos, can you see ways we followed our agreements? Did you know our whole community is full homes for things, from cars to squirrels and birds to bugs.

A house for books.

 Spiders live in a web.

The chicken house.

A house for people to live.

An apartment is where 100 people live when the grow up older.

Ants live on the ground and in their ant hills.

This toad lives in our Forest!

Cars live in a garage!

There is a hole in this tree. It maybe is a squirrel or a bird, maybe a bat.

What do you think lives in this deep, dark hole?

There is trash living in the trash can! And the trash truck.

Belle, the dog, lives next door.

Who lives in the garden?

Birch room has been focusing on animals and their habitats over the last few days. So today, we took our curiosity outside. What better place to think, explore, and ask questions?

How can we take care of living things?

What do we need to live somewhere?

What do other living things need to live?

Can anything live anywhere?

We gathered supplies, found the perfect spot and asked our class,

What lives in the garden?

I see plants and flowers, I tried to draw them all. Maybe bugs live here too.

I see all butterflies, I am going to draw them!

I think bees and butterflies live in the garden. I have seen them, they like all the flowers.

Plants live in the garden because they get their food and water and soil here. They are happy.

The ladybugs, the bumblebees, and the butterflies live in the garden. They like the dirt and sun.

There are leaves.

The flowers live here, they like to live in the sunshine.

I am drawing wiggly worms. You can't see them, they live down deep.

All the butterflies live here, they love the nectar.

The bees live here because they love the flowers.

Some kids like to play in the garden.

There are ants in the garden, they crawl under the ground. I am going to draw lots of them!

Bumble bees, I see them flying around flowers.

A turtle, I don't know why, I just know it. Maybe because there is lots of grass.

Birthday Traditions

One of the most magical things about Ambrose is our celebration of each child, in so many different ways. We may not have a traditional holiday party or parade, but we find ways each day to focus on what makes each child special and celebrate their success, growth, milestones, and anything else we can think of.

Birthdays are no exception.

During our morning meeting I asked friends if they knew why today was special. We played a little guessing game, trying to figure out who turned five this weekend.

Happiest of Birthdays to you, JW!
We hope year 5 is the best one yet.

This year the Birch is full of music loving dancers, students who care deeply for others, and friends who love to celebrate. We decided the best way to embrace this and celebrate was to create personal art that fills our birthday student's bucket, let them DJ their own dance party, and sing a joyful rendition of Happy Birthday!

JW was definitely filled with JOY as her friends shared kind words that remind them of her and danced to KPop Demon Hunters and The GoGOs.

Each child will have their own special day to celebrate their birthday.
If you student's birthday falls on a school break or weekend, we will do the closest date possible. If their birthday is during the summer we will be celebrating half birthdays.
