Today a small group of friends got to join Ms L in the hallway to make playdough! Being able to focus our learning in our shared spaces on projects is such a special time for both the children and the teachers. Our conversations flow naturally around what we are doing. There is time to dig deeper into what they are noticing. We listen to the ideas and wonderings of the children and we have time to slow down and really listen and learn together. It is a time to dig deeper, and add another block to the building of our relationships.
Who knew a simple playdough recipe could do all of that?!
All of our ingredients ready to create! I wonder what they all are?
"Flour!" M
"Salt." C
"Oil" J
We have to work together to pour and measure. It was hard work and took a lot of concentration.
"It's almost to the top." M
"Just a little bit more."
It was so sweet to see the encouragement offered to a friend.
Teamwork to add all of our ingredients!
"Mmmmmmm, this smells SO good! It's CINNAMON!" E
Now we have all of our dry ingredients and we need to add some water.
"It looks like pancakes!" C
It does look like pancakes! I love the connection you made to something you know.
But, what is going to happen when we keep cooking and cooking?
"It's turning into playdough!" E
"It IS playdough! Can we touch it?" J
Now the fun REALLY begins! Time to create!
We saw rolling, pinching, stretching, patting.
We saw balls, snakes, pancakes, and snails.
We saw smiles, and laughter, and fun.
Who knew a simple playdough recipe could do all of that?
There are lots of playdough recipes. Here is our favorite, and the one we made today.
