Can our classroom be a forest?

As we develop our study of trees, we have begin to notice the ways that all living things are connected. In our class today, we noticed living things in the forest, how our classroom could be a forest, how we can work together like the trees, and the ways living things are alike and different.

Patterns are everywhere. What patterns do you notice in nature?
Birch noticed:
Plants and animals drink water when they are thirsty.
Trees have circles going around and around, over and over.
Leaves have patterns with colors and shapes.
Animals need water and food, and sunshine, and a place to grow.

Does this leaf match? Is this my leaf?

This one looks the same. I think these go together.

Our classroom tree has all different leaves.
How are we the same? How are different? Can we make one tree, together?

These leaves are both orange. Are the same?

These leaves are the same shape. Are they the same?

Patterns, patterns everywhere. What patterns do you notice?
