A New Tree in the Forest

Today we walked to the forest and enjoyed exploring nature. When we first arrived, we discovered a new tree was planted.  We looked at the plaque that accompanied the new tree. We observed the cage that will help protect this new addition to the forest. We saw the bow placed on the cage.  We look forward to seeing this tree grow. Although this tree is too small to climb, we had many opportunities to climb on the other trees of the forest. Ask your child if they have a favorite tree in the forest.

Exploring with Magnets

Good afternoon! Recently our class has been interested in exploring how magnets work and finding what sticks to magnets in our classroom. Today we used magnetic sticks and loose parts to see which items stick to the magnets and which don't. Our class made predictions that some items would stick to the magnet because "they are gold" or "they are made of magnets." We will continue to work with magnets and explore what we can do with them. Our class also enjoyed doing animal yoga and Go Noodle dances in the classroom. Ask your child about their favorite Go Noodle dance or animal yoga pose! Have a great evening.

Forest Day Fun

Happy Tuesday! Today we had a great time enjoying the weather and exploring the forest. Before we went to the forest our class started collecting sticks and leaves to make bouquets of flowers. When we got to the forest they continued collecting different colored leaves and making even more bouquets. In the forest our class has been loving climbing on big trees and seeing how high they can go. Recently in the forest we have discovered a "secret hiding spot" near the back of the forest. Today some of our class decided to play the three little pigs and the big bad wolf game in the secret spot. During forest day Ms. Kelly and I love to see each child coming out of their shell and really using their imagination to have fun. We hope that you all have a safe and happy Thanksgiving!

Hillside Fun

Today we spent time in the classroom practicing counting and recognizing numbers. Each child took a turn to pick out numbers on small wood pieces that they knew and counted out jewels to go along with each number. When we went outside some of our class painted with bells inside a small foil pan to make artwork! Our class found that some of the bells got stuck in the paint so they had to turn the pan and shake it to get the bells to move. When we were outside some friends looked for treasure (rocks) they found and dug them out of the ground. Our class also enjoyed exploring the hillside and rolling the big spools down the hill. Ask your child about their favorite part of today. Have a great evening!

Neighborhood Scavenger Hunt

Happy Thursday! Today we decided to enjoy the nice weather and take a walk around the neighborhood. Before we went on the walk we looked at our neighborhood scavenger hunt papers to see what we were looking for on our walk. Our class broke into groups of two and helped each other find the different items while we were on our walk! They took turns holding the clipboard and marking off each item they saw along the way! Using a scavenger hunt is a great way to help children look closely and notice things that they normally don't see. Ask your child about what they saw today on our walk! Have a great weekend, we will see everyone on Monday!

Ms. Brittany

S. noticed a mailbox and marked it off on his paper.

M.R. checked her scavenger hunt paper to see what other things she needed to look for.

We saw the FedEx truck do a delivery on our walk!

We noticed paw prints on the sidewalk!

Our class spotted roses on our walk and marked it off their list.

Maps and Picture Bingo

Good afternoon! Today our class enjoyed working on creating more maps in the classroom and outside! Inside we worked on creating our own maps with sidewalk chalk on black paper. Some of the class made maps of the forest or playscape and some made maps of their home. When we went outside we worked together to create a big map of our neighborhood including Ambrose, the playscape, the hillside, and the forest. Each child added different details to our map including bricks on the building, grass, or big trees in the forest. Some of our class played a jungle explorer game and some played family in the mud kitchen. After lunch we played Picture Bingo on the carpet and practiced listening closely and covering up the pictures that were called. We love playing Bingo!
