One wacky last day!! Have a great summer!!

Happy Early Birthday Christian!

Our friend, Christian, has a birthday on June 19th. Christian asked his friends to help

create a picture of his family. We went to the red atelier to get to work. 

          Christian wanted to draw his dad.

 

            Elise drew his baby brother, Pierce. 

             Christian wanted to add red and blue paint to his family portrait.

An enjoyable morning outside!!

"It smells even better."

Last week during small capers, some of the children used herbs in the kitchen. We continued 

with some work outside in the sandbox. 

                        "You have to be gentle stirring." - Abbie

       "I am trying to make different smells and make it pretty." - Abbie

        The children used sticks as "stirrers."

          "I need one more mint." - Billy

        "Here are some more ingredients." - Megan

             "Mmmm." - Carter

Another Day at the Office

Megan-"Tomorrow I'm going to send you a email."

Colman-"Hello, hey...umm we need to go visit your doctor so..."

"I'm going to aim it."

We tested the strength of the structures using our blowers,

the fan, the wind, and finally the pendulum. Below, you will find 

different representations of those forces of motion. 

               The fan knocked down 1.

        The pendulum knocked down 8.

       The blowers knocked down 2.

               The wind knocked down 0. 

            We took a look at our findings. 

   The pendulum is the most and the wind is the smallest. 

"I think I found the sisterboard!"

Celebrating a friend's birthday!

In honor of Billy's birthday today, some friend's drew him pictures of wolves to celebrate his special day.

Testing the strength of our structures

One of our wonderings this year has been the strength of 

different materials and how things move. 

  Is it the wind? Or our blowers? A fan? The pendulum?

After constructing buildings a few week ago, we began to test 

those forces of motion to see what is the strongest.

 

               Some of our observations and predictions are listed below: 

                      Since Claire's is made out of blocks, it won't fall.

                         The pendulum is hard so it will knock down. 

                          When blocks get too high, they knock down. 

                                     Some of it will stay up. 

                                            It's wiggling.

                                           I made it shake.

                  We will test the pendulum on Monday! Stay tuned!

A long walk to end the week!!

Dances around the world

The children put a multicultural puzzle together today. Then we looked at the traditional dances for each country on the iPad. The children were very intrigued with the different styles of clothing and dances. A few of the countries we looked at were Spain, Ghana, Russia, Japan, India, and Holland.
