Caper Time Learning

Caper time is a great part of the learning that takes place here at the AFC.  It is amazing to see how other children view the learning of what is taking place in the green room.  One thing that stays constant, is that children have a unique sense of learning and how they want to learn.  They bring their thoughts and ideas and make what you have been studying more clear with their understandings.  I love learning from all our caper friends.

Let's Light Up Our Own Artwork!

The learning is always taking place in the Green Room.  The children are still exploring how to make colored lights from objects.  Their latest investigation has been with using their own art work and testing to see if lights highlights the colors.

Using flashlights to test to see what happens when the light shines through.  "It makes color" said DW.  "I can see the whole picture and all of the color." said EM

The children took their art designs into the Light Atelier and worked on where their work would look best  with lights.  The rope lighting worked the best.  Check out their work under the lights,

"None of these markers work." -MC

Megan noticed a lot of our markers weren't working. The teacher asked her to find out how many. 

She took the markers and analyzed what she had. Her findings can be seen below:

                 "How many markers do we have altogether?" 

           When asked to share her findings, the teacher asked why she used rocks. 

     She said, "To count them. We tried our fingers, but we didn't have enough." -MC

The language of yarn

The children continue to enjoy small spaces for their learning. We began work on designing a space

using yarn. We created signs to let people know the rules for the space and will begin using it next week.
