Mondays are for outdoor learning.

On Mondays, we take our learning outside. Today each teacher chose something special to bring outside to get our brains thinking of amazing ways to learn and have fun. 

Our bodies got moving. We balanced and carried, hopped and tip toed. We noticed and named each color for each stepping stone. 

Using tiles and playdough we explored patterns and shapes. We tried to name all the shapes we could find. 

Did you know Ambrose has their very own Chipotle? Complete with sardine chunk burritos. 

We used chalk to create new spaces, to play games, and to draw our imagination. 

We used our bodies to climb high and send our imaginations soaring even higher.

It was a beautiful day of outdoor learning together.

Going on a scavenger hunt.

So often we find our selves sharing spaces with the same classes, visiting the same parts of the building. Today we decided to go on an adventure. An adventure that would let us discover new friends, new rooms, and new teachers. 

We made a list of unique things around the building to search for and find. Some of these things required us to knock on a new door, to look beyond straight ahead, and even to ask a question to someone we don't know.

Can you write a letter?

Today we zoomed in on our word and letter space. One of the most beautiful things about our space, and most rooms at Ambrose, is we are made up of varied ages and abilities. We have students who start school never have seen a written letter, some begin knowing their whole name, others are beginning to learn words and read them in text. 

With all these varied levels, friends teach friends and friends inspire others. We spend our year learning and growing, listening to letter sounds. Learning to write all the big and little letters. 

Can you write a letter?

We wrote letters to spell the names in our family. 

We practiced writing our own names. 

We drew pictures and labeled them.

We found letters, wrote them, and listened to each sounds they made. 

We listened to letter sounds to make our own words!

We thought about what we want to write and wrote the sounds we heard.

We listened to sounds in words, we asked for help, AND we used the resources in our room to write words.

We wrote letters we knew in our brains.

We wrote the letters we saw in front of us.

We looked at the words around us and copied them.

We wrote the names of our friends.

We wrote, and wrote and wrote!

Lines make letters, letters make words. 

Words are everywhere.
