Drizzly Day Walk

We had such a wonderful time on our drizzly weather walk today! The children loved splashing in puddles, feeling the cool raindrops on their hands, and noticing how different the world looks when it’s wet. Outdoor play, no matter the weather, gives children valuable opportunities to explore, build resilience, and connect with nature. Rain, snow, or sunshine — each brings new learning experiences and adventures!

As the seasons change, please make sure your child comes prepared for outdoor play in any kind of weather. Waterproof boots (We have plenty at school if you need to borrow for the day), raincoats, hats, and extra layers help keep children comfortable and ready to explore. 

We also ask that you change out the extra set of clothes in your child’s cubby or backpack. The weather has shifted quickly, and outdoor fun sometimes means getting a bit muddy or wet. We want to make sure each child has warm clothing in case we need to change!

Deserts Around The World

While researching about the fennec fox we noticed that all of our deserts were not labeled on our map.

So we got to work and looked at a few different maps to help us color and label all the different deserts. 

Some deserts are small, some big. 

Some deserts have long names, and some short names. 

Now that we have labeled our deserts I wonder where the fennec fox lives? 

Can they live in more than one place? 

 

Fennec Fox Research

Birch Room has been very into learning about all the things desert, especially the animals!

We have so many big ideas, questions and facts but how will we remember everything? 

Part of being a scientist is taking notes and researching and we were inspired to do the same. 

We got our very own research notebooks! And today birch friends wanted to learn all about the fennec fox. 

 

Our friends wanted to spell fennec fox so they could label their notes. 

Friends were working together to remind each other of what the letters look like. 

Some friends drew pictures to take notes, some wrote letters and some words. 

We even learned how to dig like a fennec fox!

 

We continued our research over into our new research area. 

We asked questions and tried to find the answers in books and by using our iPad. 

We even got to watch videos of the fennec fox in their environment.
