What's in a name?

 

Today for our Think about it Thursday question we asked our friends what they thought our restaurant should be named.  

We have been thinking alot about what is important in a name.

What kind of food does your restaurant sell?

Is your restaurant "fancy" or just "regular"?

Is our restaurant one that already exists or is it from our own imaginations?

We could easily see the influence of experiences coloring our name choices.  

We heard Chuck E Cheese

Chick Fil A

Mc Donalds

Then we stretched our brains a bit and wondered if we might think of names from our own imaginations!

"Mars Pizza." JL

"Super Cheese!" EM     "Rocketship Pizza." MT

"Pizza Planet." CF

"Chuck E Cheese." JB

We had a great list of names to start with.

As we began our capering today we invited the other classrooms to

"Help us Name our Restaurant"

"Sparks Pizza." JI     "Chickies." CG

"Pizza Fried Chicken" LB

"Super Chickie Restaurant." JA

Guess what?  We have a HUGE problem.  Our restaurant does not have a name!

"The Art of Entertaining!" G

"Chick Fil A" X

Wow!  Those are amazing places to eat.  I wonder, though if I might get confused since there already is a place called that?  You told me, G that you really love The Art of Entertaining.  What part of that do you love?  The "Art" part or the "Entertaining" part?

"Hmmm, I think the Art part."

I wonder if there is a name you can come up with that uses that?  The Art of...

"CHIPS!" X

Wow!  The Art of Chips!  You two worked together to come up with a name and I would absolutely go there!

G, as you wrote your sign you and I continued to talk and you said,

"What about the Art of Nature?" G

That sounds interesting to me.  What kind of food would they serve there?

"Well, fruit is nature so maybe fruit and salad?" G

"Wow!  That is DEFINITELY a place I would eat!" Ms L

This is the perfect example of what Capering is all about.  We are sharing our work and joining with others who can inspire us with their ideas!  As we continue to talk about what makes a good name we will add to our ideas.  We cannot wait for our grand opening!
