We are often asked, "how do you teach the school stuff?"
So much of our day is spent on learning how to be a member of a community, practicing independence, and deepening our curiosity and questioning. During those times, however, we imbed ABCs and 123s. We practice writing, finding letters, and counting. We make learning fun, interested, and geared towards what are students are curious about.
Lately our brains have been wondering about galaxies, asteroids, and stars. Today, we played with numbers in outer space.
What flies and what floats in space?
What makes an asteroid belt?
Can things collide in space?
How do space rocks move?
How many asteroids can your spaceship hold?
Numbers are everywhere. We work them into our day and we find them in the world around us. Learning happens through play.
And we play all day!

Can you count how many stars you see?
If anyone has ONE more egg carton they are willing to share, we need a spaceship that holds ten asteroids!
