Over the past few weeks, our scientists took a deep dive into the study of scorpions and tarantulas!
We started by gathering facts about each creature—where they live, what they eat, how they protect themselves, and what makes them unique. In small groups, we enjoyed exploring books, pictures, and practicing their internet research. After collecting and listing our facts, the children illustrated what they learned, creating visual representations of each idea.
With our research complete, we moved into sorting and classifying. As a class, we compared and contrasted the information, deciding whether each fact belonged under scorpion, tarantula, or both.
We worked hard to practice the skills of inquiry—asking questions, exploring answers, and organizing our thinking in meaningful ways.
Ask your child what surprised them most about scorpions and tarantulas—they have a lot to share!
