Good afternoon! This morning outside the Birch room we noticed something big fly past our windows and decided to look outside our back door and see what it was. On one of the tree branches outside our classroom we noticed a big bird that we think was a hawk! We had to make sure to keep our voices quiet and bodies calm while we watched the hawk so we didn't scare him away. We watched as he looked around the playscape and after a while he flew away. In classroom we decided to make our own "mud" for the dinosaurs using cornstarch, water, and brown food coloring. Each child took a turn pouring or stirring the mud mixture together. Some of our observations of the mud were:
"It looks really sticky and gooey"
"The color kind of looks like coffee"
"The mud needs more water!"
"It looks like real mud"
Then the class took turns exploring the mud. Some children just played with the dinosaurs in the mud and some touched the mud and got messy! Ask your child about their favorite part of today. Have a great evening!
