Thank you so much, JW, for thinking of the Birch Room when you picked out Treehouse Town from the library! It was the perfect inspiration for building in the forest today. Before we left, we read the story about a special place in the trees where everyone belongs. A place with Sycamore Slides, Willow Way, and the Birch Bazaar! In the book we saw a place to eat, sleep, get books, and play. There were places to swim, places to ride trains, places to swing high above the trees. Everyone was eager to head to our forest and make our own Treehouse Town.
The underlying message of the book is creating a space for everyone. We saw that today in our forest as friends built, added on, communicated needs, and showed flexibility when plans needed to be changed.
Our treehouse town had slides, swings, a kitchen (complete with a fridge and open fire stove), a swimming pool, a camping tent, and even a bathroom!
