From a Sundress to a Diaper Bag!

As you know the children in Birch have been working with the baby dolls in learning a great deal about how to care for them.  Last semsester they discovered what babies need and how to make sure that they were being cared for.  They used dramatic play to pretend to care for the dolls.  At one point they started a service project that lead them to collection over a hundred baby items for a local agency.  Their desire to continue to show how to care for babies has lead them wanting to create things that babies need.  One thought that was bought forth was to make a diaper bag for the babies. 

Morgan came to the teacher and shared her idea on how we could design a diaper bag by using an old sundress that she had. So we decided to follow Mogan's lead.

Morgan shared that we needed to cut the sides off the dress and use the sides as pockets for the bag.

Next, we were to make patterns for the pockets and cut out three pockets.

We pinned the pockets down to the material.

The next day, we started sewing the pockets to the diaper bag using the sewing machine.
