building and secret messages

Good afternoon! The Birch room has had a busy day! We began the morning by playing a few morning greeting games. The students continued their book making and experimented with water and soap. Other friends built with our "plus plus" blocks and created people and spinning devices. Other friends played a matching game!

As the morning continued, we split up into small groups. Students took turns exercising in the hallway and practiced throwing and aiming bean bags into a target.

Inside the classroom, students continued building with our new toys and made volcanoes out of soap and water. Some friends built tunnels with the blocks and the projector.

Another activity the students participated in was writing letters in the sand. The students had to roll a block, identify the letter and draw it in the sand.

Other students built their names out of small blocks!

Over in the building area, one student stood in front of the projector and noticed that when he held up his piece of paper, some letters from the projector appeared on his paper.

He called it a "secret code" and one of his classmates joined him. They built this platform in order to reach the letters and have them appear on their pieces of papers.

Other students discovered these "secret messages" and decided to join in on the fun. They were holding up the papers and writing the letters that appeared in order to "crack the code."

Some students started to recognize their names and they were writing down all of the letters being projected! They had a great time "cracking the code!"
