Beautiful Day

We took advantage of the warmer weather today and had choices inside the classroom and outside on the hill.  Students were able to come and go as they pleased.  Inside the classroom students worked on building towers to then knock over with balls.

Once they knocked over their towers a few times they went and got the stool to make a tunnel.  It reminded me of a mini-golf hole. 

Once they conquered the tunnel "challenge" the boys created a path using the stool turned upside down for their ball to go through.  They were still trying to knock their tower over.  They tried multiple times and the ball kept going over their towers, not knocking it down.  When I asked "what could you do so that your ball hits the tower?"  They took a basket out from under the stool. 

Success! 

O. began to build a house on the large carpet with blocks, cups, and tree cookies.  

"This is the Adam's family house.  The cups are statues of cakes.  These (the tree cookies) are furnatue. Some are beds, some are tables, and these are foot rests" 

This is the lights to the house.

It may look like a mess but each material was very strategically places and had a purpose to her building. 

We also had an ice cream store built.  There was spaces for different flavors and and window to order from. 

Outside the students built with manipulatives, played in water, and dug for bugs.  One student built a house on the geo-board.
