Musical Monday

This week is NAEYC's annual celebration: Week of the Young Child! This is a fun-filled week celebrating early learning, young children, their teachers, families and communities. The purpose of this is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs.

Today was MUSICAL MONDAY. We shifted our morning meeting to do some tapping and dancing, we were so impressed with how so many friends could tap a beat while moving their feet!

During our small group time we put our a couple of musical invitations. Can you make paint dance? We gave each student two popsicle sticks, some paint, paper and a music. They listened, tapped, made their own patterns, even copied other patterns they observed. All while making beautiful art. 

Do different rubber bands make different noises? Each peg board was outfitted with 3 different sized and colored rubber bands. They were pulled tight and fitted loosely. Some rubber bands criss-crossed, others were pulled straight across. Can you hear the difference?

 

Tomorrow is TASTY TUESDAY. We will be making a Tasty Trail mix!
