What is community?
It is a place for you and me.
We are all neighbors.
To help us understand what it means to be a part of a community and who belongs we read the book, All Are Neighbors. The story reminds us that we are all part of this community, we each play an important role, we all take care and show respect. On our walk we asked ourselves, "who do you think belongs in our community?"
Who do you think we saw on our walk today?
The food delivery people take care because they bring food to our school!
Trash collectors, they care to pick up the trash.
Some shops give us a bench so we can relax cause we are so hot!
Did you know we have friends and family that work in our community?
AG knows who works in this bookstore!
MP's mommy works here!
It's a planter, they make pretty flowers.
We may not see everyone who cares in our community, but we see the work they do.
Some people don't have enough and someone else put out a box to give and help.
Some people do silly things to bring us joy and make us laugh.
Others leave signs of hope and love to remind us we are all together.
Mechanics take care of our broken cars so we can get where we need to go.
Mail carries, bus drivers, chefs... OH MY!
We ran into a community member whose job it is to keep us safe, in our school and in our town.
Some of the most important members of our community - US!
And the people who love and take care of us at home. A big thank you to AT and EG for walking with us today.
