Our morning invitations gave us a chance to show what we know about numbers. By this time in the year our children know when they see a new table that they are free to create their own learning. These friends were so excited to play a game of their very own invention. What do you know about numbers? What do you notice? How can you show me? What happens next? What can you do with this material? These are all questions that we ask to prompt our children to think even further than their initial discoveries. They are playing a game for sure, and they are working together, sharing ideas, watching and listening, and learning about numbers!
Tiny legos are such a wonderful tool to strengthen our fingers! They are beautiful on our light table, and oh so fun to create with!
Usually our Mondays are Make-it Mondays. We could tell almost immediately that our children were most definitely making something today...a lot of noise! The excitement that surrounds holidays can be felt throughout our communities, our homes, and most definitely through our children. So rather than woking against the noise, we decided to go with it!
We spent some time outside getting some beautiful fresh air, and then headed in to the collaboratory. Our friends LOVE these giant blue blocks. We saw so many different ways to create with them, but the predominant theme was how to MOVE!
We saw balancing,
rocking,
see sawing,
and even catapulting!
We worked together and created
obstacle courses
and houses!
And when it was time to clean up we played The Floor is Lava!
Everybody jump!
