Happy Wednesday, all! We began our morning with a morning meeting and making choices in the classroom. Some of the students worked on a big puzzle together while others made designs on the geoboard with rubber bands. A few kids practiced number recognition with a bingo game and they did a great job at taking turns as the "announcer."
The class made a trip down to the gym! A handful of students rode bikes while others built chairs and structures out of blocks. Some students played with loose parts, puzzles, and the dollhouse. Later on, a group of students went with Ms. Gayle to make some delicious hot chocolate in the kitchen! The rest of the class returned to the classroom for a dance party! We enjoyed this yummy, warm drink and it helped us prepare for the cold weather outside. We bundled up and got some fresh air for a few minutes out on the playscape.
Once we returned inside, we read
The Very Quiet Cricket by Eric Carle. The students observed the author and illustrator's pictures. We talked about what materials he must have used to create his illustrations and the detail we see in his art. The students had the idea to paint illustrations like Eric Carle, so we did just that! Each student had an opportunity to paint a picture of their choice. We had Eric Carle's books laying out for the students to observe while drawing their art piece. The students are very creative artists!
