Marble rolling and measuring

Happy Tuesday! The Birch room began the morning with sharing what they ate for breakfast and made choices in the classroom. The students started out by completing some puzzles and creating designs with tiles and a variety of fabrics. We experimented more with the snow in the sensory table and talked about why we think the snow turns into water when it is inside the classroom and stays frozen when it is outside. The students came to the conclusion that it melts because it is colder outside and it is warmer in the classroom. One student suggested to make our classroom as cold as outside so the snow would stay in the sensory table!

 

  

 
 

Some friends adventured down to the gym for some exercise with Ms. TC. Other friends stayed in the classroom and experimented with marbles and making marble tracks and tunnels! The tracks and tunnels consisted of using cardboard tubes and clear light table tubing material. Other friends became curious and wondered "how high it is to the ceiling?" They started measuring with cardboard tubes and questioned how tall it is in numbers. Some students figured out how to take the yard sticks and use the numbers to measure the cardboard tubing! This inspired them to measure other materials in the classroom. Another group of students created people and the school "snail" (located on the hillside) out of clay and wire! This was very creative and the students worked well together on designing the snail.

What else will we measure in the classroom and design out of clay? You'll have to wait and see!
