Play, play, we play all day!

Hello all! My goodness have the children been busy...PLAYING! We have had an eventful Thursday. We began our morning by singing a song about our feelings and greeting one another. The students made choices in the classroom that consisted of building out of loose parts and creating art pieces. Other students played the game Candyland and Bingo. The kids continue to practice signing in by writing their names in the morning and continue to improve on recognizing the letters in their name and writing their name! I encourage the students to practice this skill at home as well. Ask your child to write his or her name for you! 

Later in the morning, a group of students ventured down to the collaboratory where they built several structures and a path around the room. The teachers laid out the big blue exercise mat and students performed yoga moves and exercised with weighted balls and kettlebells. They sure worked up a sweat! Other friends took a trip down to the kitchen and made fresh vanilla play-doh for our classroom.

Once we returned to the classroom, the students played with play-doh, built with legos, blocks and loose parts. The students really enjoyed making pie crusts out of the play-doh! Other students read books and created self portraits. Some friends created more painting on the art easel! Take a look at the paintings hanging outside of our classroom. They did a fabulous job on their artwork!
