Brrr...It was a chilly-cold day today! The onset of low temperatures brings a whole new routine to our school. Donning and doffing coats.
Twenty coats...forty sleeves...twenty zippers...forty mittens...two teachers!
The math doesn't seem to quite add up. SO many more coats, sleeves and mitten than teachers.
AND...that's okay! We take a LONG time to go outdoors, because those two teachers don't put all those coats on and off. Those two teachers don't zip all those zippers.
What those two teachers DO, do is to model, show, talk and encourage, and allow alllllll those friends to put those coats on all by themselves!
There are LOTS of ways to get a coat on and off.
Some friends do it lickity split.
Some friends put one arm in and go round and round and round chasing that other arm.
Some friends lay the coat on the floor and lay down on top of it.
LOTS of friends do "flip flop over the top"
At Ambrose we talk a lot about the flip flop method.
Lay your coat spread out on the floor.
Toes by the top (or by the tag)
Hold on to your sleeves.
Arms in the holes.
Now FLIP FLOP over the top!

Now that our coats are on we're ready!
Oops..not quite! It's COLD! We need to zip up!
Your zipper is kinda like a train track. It runs up and down the track.
When the zipper is ALLLLL the way at the bottom there is a little slit.
Push the zipper on the other side into that slot...push is alllll the way down.
Now hold tight and pull it up!

Now that we're all ready where are we going?

It was a perfect sunny fall day for a lllloooonnnnngggg walk! Our bodies are strong. Our muscles are strong. We can stick together and stay safe. We all did it!
Now that we are here what are we doing?
We have been talking a lot about emotions, feelings, and colors.
We searched the library catalog and requested some amazing books for our classroom to borrow.
We were so excited!
We all sat together and read one of our books.
I'm Having a Sky Blue Day.
I wonder what this is about? How does a sky blue day feel?
"Sad"
Lots of friends thought a blue day would be sad. But look at the picture on the cover? What do you notice?
"They are smiling."
Hmmm...I wonder what what will happen in this book?
