We got a special visit from the Webster Groves Fire Department today! After we had our fire drill, the Fire Department stayed to chat with us about fire safety.
Children had many questions...
C - What do they use the tanks for?
O - How do they walk with all that stuff on?
M - Do they use a lot of water?
B - Do they do anything else besides put out fires?
S - Do they have to use the sirens?
We did not get a chance to ask our questions and we became a little frustrated.
Miss Brooke - I am noticing that some of y'all are upset that we didn't get to ask our questions.
B - Yeah they never let us talk.
Miss Brooke - Right. So what could we do? Y'all had so many great questions!?
C - We could ask them right now.
O - They are driving away
M - What are we going to do!!!
Miss Brooke - Could we visit them and ask the questions?
Many children - Yes!!!
We made a plan that next week, we will take a walk to the fire station to chat with them. This pairs excellent with our newest budding project.
Children have been so invested with each other and our community. Even though, they aren't able to name it yet, this is what we are noticing. We had a conversation about how to change one part of our classroom to aid in their pretend play. Our calming corner, that turned into our chill area/baby area, will get renovated into a building. It will house different kinds of places: doctor office, house, restaurant, toy store, grocery store and more! Children decided we should start creating the bricks for our roof and walls.
