All of the rain made for an interesting day to explore outside! After the rain stopped, we went on a walk to notice what happens after it rains.
M - The leaves are stuck on the ground
F - The fence is dripping!
We noticed the ground and grass is very wet!
K - It is raining!
S - Oh no!
E and B - It is not rain guys, the drops are from the tree
O - Is the wind blowing the drops?
E and B - yes that is why it seems like it is raining
S - What a trick!
The rain knocked the skeletons down! Now they are all broken!
C - The white stripes are wet.
A - It is slippery!
M - Don't fall!
M - The fence is wet
O - The spiderwebs are very wet!
Miss Brooke - What else do you notice?
T - The spiders are gone
C - Where did the spiders go?
Miss Brooke - Why aren't they in their web?
O - Maybe because it is too heavy?
C - Maybe they don't like the rain?
A - the chickens are gone!
B - They are all in the chicken house
M - I think it's because they don't like rain
We noticed so many differences in nature after a lot of rain. Slowing down to notice all the small things can be challenging for our class, but children (as always) rose to the challenge! Children engaged in things that scientists do - observe, question and think critically.
