Homemade jelly? Yes, please!

Good afternoon! The Birch room began our morning by greeting one another and making choices in the classroom. Some friends built a large ship out of blocks for play people.

Others created houses at the light table, using magnet pieces.

We continued our morning by having a meeting as a whole class. The students greeted one another and we practiced more deep breathing. So far, we have learned the "star breath, balloon breath, Daniel Tiger breath," and "bird breath." The students are getting really good at calming their bodies and minds while taking these breaths. Ask your child to show you one of our breaths!

After breathing, the class began to talk about making jelly. The students became curious on how to make jelly a few weeks ago, when jelly was served during breakfast at school! The students began to ask "Where does jelly come from? How do people make jelly? Does Ms. Robin make the jelly?" The students put together that since Ms. Katie makes bread, maybe she can help us make some jelly! Turns out, Ms. Katie knows how to make homemade jelly!

One students wrote out "raspberry and blackberry" and decided to vote on what flavor to make. The raspberry flavor was the winner! We plan to walk to Straubs tomorrow and purchase our berries.

"Raspberries have 12 votes."

"Blackberries have nine votes. Raspberries win!"
More learning, adventures and fun happening tomorrow! Have a great rest of your day.
