We are preparing for our yoga show this Friday. The banner that we made two weeks ago is now hanging in the Motor Room. A group also sent the school an email inviting them to their yoga show. They then went around the school asking for participants to sign up.

What to make on pajama day??
We voted between banana muffins, blueberry pancakes, and pumpkin bread.
We looked for a recipe and wrote up what we needed after checking the kitchen.
We walked to Straubs to get our ingredients.

How does the roller coaster go?
During small capers, we continued with our provocation of the roller coaster. The children discussed the way it moves including the speed, the turns, and the directions.
Throughout the ride, friends began to talk about what people ride in- "the cab."
Throughout the ride, friends began to talk about what people ride in- "the cab."
How does the roller coaster go?
We represented our ideas with a drawing.
Some ideas listed below:
There's a little button people push.
The button turns a lever on.
The lever turns on pedals.
The electricity is in the button and turns on the lever.
The computer tells it to go faster and slower.
It's a switch.

Testing ways to move objects with our mouths
Elijah and some friends experimented with moving objects by using their breath to blow them along ramp and by blowing air through straws.
Limbo!!
As you can see (with three blurry pictures) the kids enjoyed using their bodies in a new way....LIMBO! They maneuvered as best they could not to touch the limbo stick.
Octopus Adventure!
The children were so excited to find baby octopi in the kitchen atelier today. They were brought in by a parent from another classroom. After holding one, one friend said,"It feels like a dolphin."(we're guessing he's touched one before lol) Overall AWESOME experience:)

Small capers
Every Thursday, we participate in small capers with the classrooms
at the end of our hallway. Classrooms collaborate with one another to
further children's learning as a larger community while supporting what is
taking place in individual classrooms.
Green Room had a roller coaster that children could
interact with as we investigate motion and movement.
Representational drawings of weeds from the garden
We are also using other spaces in the building including the motor
room. The children collaborated on a boat that moves on water to
pull a castle.

Goo!!
Some of our noticings about the goo:
"Who wants to pop it?"- Charlotte
"I hear a sound. It's squeaky." - Grace
"It's sticking to me." - Megan
Obstacle course
Our SLU student, Jennifer, set up an obstacle course to
help us explore with ways of moving based on a conversation
with the children about ways our bodies can move. During the
obstacle course, friends were talking about changes that could be made.
Stay tuned....
