Bubbles!!

"It's a pendulum that paints." - Claire

After experiencing the pendulum with building, we re-launched the pendulum using the
language of paint. The children were making connections to the motions the pendulum made.
Read some of their thoughts below:

          "It's spinning."
       "It's making a circle."
      "It looks like a spiderweb."
     "It looks like space."

Small capers

So much excitement at small capers- our neighbors in the
Pink Room have some chicks that hatched earlier this week. We had
a chance to hold them today.

Green Room created art using some machines.

Movement by Electricity!

A Problem with the Copier

Two times while using the copier, there were paper jams. They used their tools to fix the problem the first time. When it happened again and they realized the job was a bit trickier than they thought, they called Mr. Johnny on the walkie talkie for his assistance.

Storybooks

Aubrey brought in a copier that the kids could explore with. They were so excited to see the inside of the machine. The problem was that they didn't know how to load the paper into it.

Engineering

While some children use the pendulum to make structures fall,
other friends are interested in testing the strength of materials
to keep the structures up.

A variety of materials were gathered as a provocation
along with a paste of flour and water.

            What are the children learning?
                * Problem solving skills
*Knowledge of physical properties of objects and materials
*Explores and describes spatial relationships and shapes

Let's Go Blues!

What an exciting (and noisy lol) morning we've had so far. This group created their own hockey game. They had such a great time playing and chanting,"Let's go Blues!"
