Water Day!

Happy water day! Today, we challenge you to play and experiment with water in whatever way possible!

Check out this video of the Ambrose teachers playing in and with water!

We had so much fun seeing you yesterday at our pick-up parade! It was a really fun year, full of learning and wonderful adventures. We are sad that our time in the classroom together was cut short and we are thinking of you all during this time. We hope you all stay safe, healthy and have a wonderful summer!

Dominoes

Good morning! Today's challenge consists of making a dominos path! If you don't have dominos, have your child use books, game boxes, toilet paper rolls or paper towel rolls, blocks or markers to line them up in a row.

What happens when one of the materials falls over? How long can you get the path to go without it falling down? Can you create a circular design with your materials? Post a picture to the google photos or send us a picture via email!

Ball Toss Game

Today Joe and I played a ball toss game together.  We collected different containers in our basement and gathered balls from our ball pit.  I made a line on the floor that we could not cross when we tried to toss the balls into the containers.  Here is our setup

Enjoy our video!

Also a caterpillar update.  They have all made their chrysalises and we moved them into their netting habitat.

In the move one fell off the cloth, but it is ok for it to be on the paper towel.  Now we wait 7-10 days for them to emerge.

Paint Day!

There are many ways you can paint at home! If you have any paint, get some out and start your creation! You can mix the colors or keep them separate. Do you have watercolor paint or thicker paint? If you do not have any paint at home, no worries! You can paint with water outside on the ground and create neat designs and pictures! If you have chalk, you can draw and design with chalk and see how the chalk reacts when you paint over it with water. You can use paintbrushes, paint rollers, sticks, eye droppers, q-tips, your feet and/or your hands. Take a picture of your creation and post it to our google photos or send us a picture via email! Happy painting!

Caterpillar Surprise

I wanted to give everyone an update on the caterpillars.  On Saturday most of the caterpillars began to make their chrysalises!
Here they are hanging from the cloth on top of the cup.

Check out this really cool video.  You can see them turning their bodies into their chrysalises. We have one left that needs to change into their chrysalis.  According to my research, I need to give it one more day before I transfer the cloth into the netting habitat.

Here is what they look like today.  There are 6 chrysalises.  How many days do you think it will take for the butterflies to start emerging?  It has already been 3 days. What do you think the butterflies will look like once they emerge?

Signs of Spring!

Good morning! There are lots of signs of spring outside! Have you seen any trees grow pretty, bright flowers? Have you seen flowers come out of the ground for the bees to come and visit them? Ms. Abby has seen a lot of signs of spring and here are some of the pictures she has taken to share with you!

If you have seen any signs of spring outside your window or in your yard, share a picture on the google photos album or via email! You can also draw your own picture of flowers or trees!

Practical Scissor Usage

Are you looking for a fun and practical outside activity for your kiddos?  The other day Joe asked if he could cut the grass.  I told him he was too young to use the lawn mower by himself.  He then said, "No, I want to use scissor."  Well, that was OK with me!  I showed him what flowers/ plants he could NOT cut.  This was a good 20 minutes of concentration and a great way to practice using scissors!

Drawing Challenge

Here is your challenge today: draw one of your favorite things or places at school!

Is it the Birch room, playscape, or collaboratory? What are some other fun rooms at school? Remember doing the obstacle courses in the hallway, or the rock wall in the gym? Do you enjoy playing in the snail or the sandbox? Here are some pictures of places you played and activities that you did at school!

I'm challenging you to get out your drawing/art materials and create one of your favorite spots from Ambrose! Your creation can be anything from school!

You can also build one of these rooms with blocks or legos. If you'd like to draw with chalk on a sidewalk or back patio, that would be fun too! Make sure to post a picture to our Google Photos album. We would love to see your creations!
