Leaves Everywhere

We are so glad that we are back at school! Children have reunited with one another and couldn't wait to play.

Throughout the morning, they spent time catching up through creating, building and exploring! We chose to go on a walk today and went the long way to the Top and Side of the Forest. Throughout Old Webster children were noticing different decorations and making connections.

As soon as we got to the Forest, they were so excited to play in the leaves! Rolling down the hill, collecting piles, throwing them in the air, and so much more. Some even buried other children in the leaves.

We were lucky enough to enter the Forest and play inside! Very quickly, most of Birch room turned into wolves. Different packs were howling and finding their dens.

Impromptu Forest Day

We got so lucky and we were able to adventure out to the Forest! Since we are going to miss our Forest Day on Friday, children were so excited to explore. Many different groups came together and entered into a world of pretend.

M - We are all Werewolves. We howl at the moon.
*Chorus of howling*
M - We all have these moon crystals
S - There can be only one alpha you know. It's M.
S - The moon crystals tell us who we are.
M - As werewolves, we own the night. But we are working on getting a house.

K - Look at my fire!
E - Yeah!
K - E and I are watching movies. He is my best friend.
Miss Brooke - What movie are you watching?
K - Boss Baby

A - C is my baby. M is the older brother.
C - I want to get my favorite toy dad!
A - It is in the happy meal baby. We are going to get it now.
C - I need it! I need it!
A - Don't put it in your mouth. You need to wait baby. Here it is!
C - Yay, a toy!

Thursday Play

Happy Thursday, Birch friends! Today we walked to the forest and explored the side. We'll be missing our forest day since we are off tomorrow, so we wanted to have some forest time! Birch room played lots of games like animals and hide-and-seek. Our students are so creative in their play and love to play games where everyone is involved and working together as a community :) We think everyone is looking forward to having an extra stay home day this week as we heard about all the exciting things everyone has planned! We can't wait to hear all the cool stories on Monday! Have a wonderful long weekend!

Playing Pretend

Today children were asked, "Where do you go when you pretend?" Quickly, many shouted "Trains!" Since they love playing pretend, we were curious what would this question spark in their play. They enjoyed getting to "go" places and explore together.

C - We are making firewood! It is for our forest.
C - My turn, let's load the wood in.

M - This is my zoo. All the animals are getting lined up. Then the people can visit the zoo.

Of course a big race broke out. Children created the course and there were others at the finish line.

B - C'mon guys! A is going to win again
T - Let's go, let's go, let's go
F - I'm watching them from over here

K - We have to get the pump going.
S - Is the water coming out?
K - No, we have to keep going! C'mon E!

R - This is my unicorn. Do you see the glitter in it's horn? So cute!
Miss Brooke - Where are you going with your unicorn?
R - Back to our magic house.

Building Blocks and Leaves

Happy Tuesday! Today was so beautiful that we had to spend most of it outside before that winter weather rolls in :) We broke out the blue blocks at the top of the playscape and watched to see what Birch room would build.

MS: These are our horses!

MR: This one is called Nature.

C: I'm just hanging out, this is my bed!

R: I'm building the tallest tower!

R: These go on top of the tower to make it taller!

M: We're building it so tall!

R: It's so tall, I can't even reach it!

Other friends wanted to explore letters.

M: This is a d. D is for dog!

M: Look, I made two D's!

Some of Birch room thought it would be fun to "ride" things.

R: This is a rollercoaster!

M: This keeps us in!

K: This is my car. We're going to the store.

ML: What are you getting at the store?

K: We're getting ice cream! Honk honk!

We also got out the rakes for anyone who wanted to get the last remaining leaves.

K: I'm making a big pile! We're gonna jump in it!

K: I made the pile so big! Let's jump! Here, E, you jump in it!
