Special storytime

Happy Friday and almost winter break! The students have been full of energy on this exciting pajama day. We began our morning by showing off our pajamas and making choices in the classroom. The students were busy building puzzles and playing games of bingo and drawing about what they would like to do over winter break!

We later went down to the gym for some exercise! Some students burnt off some energy on the bikes while others built with tiles, blocks and played with the dollhouse. We played a few games of
"seesaw" and sang a few songs. The class met Ms. Marty down in the collaboratory and gathered by the "fire" (a picture of a fire on a TV). Ms. Marty read the students some books and they loved having this special time with her.

After some stories by the fire, the students returned to the classroom to frolic with the Maple room. Some students dance in the Birch classroom while others did an obstacle course in the hallway and experimented in the tinker room. Other students played in the Maple room. Our class read some books before lunch and the students enjoyed their cheesy pizza!

Have a wonderful winter break with your child!

Dance party time!

Good afternoon! The kids have had such a fun and busy day! We began our morning by making choices in the classroom that consisted of stamping designs and building puzzle sculptures. Other friends built with loose parts and read in our reading center.

Later in the morning, we walked down to the gym and joined the rest of the school for a dance party! The students showed off their moves and Ms. Marty came and joined in on the dancing! After dancing, we came back to the classroom and created designs with blocks and buttons, built with trains and blocks, and built an obstacle course in the hallway. We ended our morning by playing "hot potato" and "telephone." The class was so excited because they were able to pass the message all the way around the circle! What a fun day! Don't forget...tomorrow is pajama day!

chocolatey hot chocolate and a bonfire!

Today was a fabulous day for our fun winter activity! We began our morning by playing a morning greeting game, including the game "telephone." The kids seemed to really enjoy this game and tried really hard to pass the original message through the circle!
We later made choices in the room, such as reading books in the reading center, drawing on a grid, and building snowmen out of play-doh and loose parts! The students drew a city and planets on the grid and began talking about outer space and different planets in our solar system. One student asked the question, "How come the sun is a star and it comes out during the day? We see stars at night." There is potential for the class to become interested in learning about outer space...we will have to wait and see! (scroll through the pictures and continue reading about our day!)

After our morning activities, we had a fire drill. I am so impressed by how well they handle the fire drills. The kids take action and take the drill very seriously. AWESOME JOB, BIRCH FRIENDS! We quickly adventured over to the playscape where Ms. Katie made us a bonfire and we enjoyed cups of hot chocolate and marshmallows with our Sycamore and Spruce friends!
