City Building and a Birthday!

What is a home?

It's where you live.

It is a house.

If a home is a house, where does a fish live?

...

During meeting we read a book called, Home, all about different homes. Big homes, small homes, underwater homes. All kinds of homes and who may live there.

We were inspired to find new materials for building habitats and homes. What could we find in the Collaboratory? It has been weeks since our last visit.

CHeck out these GIANT magnatiles. They were just what we needed.

WE BUILT THIS CITY!

What better way to start our Monday than with a birthday celebration!
Happiest of birthdays to TW, hope your day was amazing.

Birthday Celebrations and Forest Day!

  Happy, Happy Birthday SS!

We hope your 4th birthday is the best yet.

We hope you were filled with SO much joy and happiness hearing all the kind words your friends shared about you. We also had a ton of fun dancing along to your songs for your dance party celebration.

It was Forest Friday! We went in with a mission to find different habitats in the forest, and we found oh so much!
We found bees buzzing in the plants as we walked by.
MP found so many sticks. "They once were apart of the tree but they fell off and now there is so many sticks." MP
He also noticed how a plant had fallen over and it had reminded him of a stick falling off a tree.
"It's a purple stick!" MP and AG
I wonder what was growing on those purple sticks?
MP and AG walked around the whole forest and found berries growing on them!
We found birds and butterflies flying through the plants.
TW, FK, and BL found a spiders home!
How many spiders live there?
What does their home look like?

We found so many different kinds of plants. Some plants were small, some big, some colorful and some not so colorful.

Check out maples blog we also looked at all the different colors we see in the forest!

What do you need to live in your habitat?

Today's Big Question:

What do you need in your habitat to live?

THE FOREST:

Water for energy

Trees, mushrooms, and pinecones to eat

Trees to let things hide and protect them

A place to keep you dry

The Pond
Water to keep the frogs cool
Food
Lily pads to jump on and play
Warm weather, frogs don't like the cold

Farm Animals

A house or bard to sleep and rest

Water to drink and swim

Shade because it gets too hot

Hay and wood to eat

CH made a kitty house to amazing not to share:

A swimming pool

A drawbridge

Sunshade

Strong concrete

Wood to eat

Just the right temperature

A top to keep her safe from the storms

Take a look around, what do you need to live in your home?

Do you have to sleep inside? Why?

Where do you keep your food?

Do you have water in your home, do you need water to drink?

First Caper Day!

Today we capered with Sycamore and Magnolia classroom.

Every Wednesday we get to caper. Children are able to flow in and out of the three nearby classrooms freely. Capering allows us time to share our ideas and what we are working on with classrooms near us. This also creates an opportunity to learn new things and collaborate with new friends we may not get to see every day.

In Sycamore we explored:

What can you build with these materials?

How can you build an animal home?

Can you play a rock math game?

What can you string?

In Magnolia we explored:

How do you take care?

How does your family play?

Who lives in your family?

In Birch we explored:

Who lives here?

Build your animal a home.
