Birthday celebration

Last week, we had a conversation about how we could celebrate our birthdays in the Green Room. 

The children were discussing gifts that could be given to one another. Friends agreed to necklaces and 

bracelets so we have been spending the week creating these special gifts. 

       So on your child's special day, he or she will get to choose a gift of their choice.

Official signing of "Green room Agreements "

The children officially signed the class agreements.  This process puts us all on the same page about classroom expectations. The children were excited. We look forward to working together to make our room a fun, exciting, thrilling, and safe place to learn.

A natural discovery

We discovered this interesting creature outside on Friday afternoon.

The children wanted to keep him and observe him.

When we arrived on Monday, something happened. 

      We had a discussion about what happened. 

         Why do you think this is a caterpillar?

               "Because of the legs." - Claire

        "Because it has spots on the back."- Megan

            "Because they move very slow."- Morgan

                  "Bended nose." - Remi

Design

         Children represent their ideas in a variety of ways using beautiful, natural, and 

                                         transformative materials.

Ooh, that smells good!!

We brought in some herbs to add to the play dough made in the kitchen!!

"Green room agreements"

During group time the green room talked about the word "agreement." The children defined the word as meaning "yes." The word "yes", meaning that we will all say yes to some classroom rules.

The 1st agreement-Listen to your teachers and friends.

2nd agreement-Have a good sitting body on the carpet.

3rd agreement-Keep hands and feet to ourselves.

4th agreement-Be nice (share a toy, help people when they are hurt, and hugging)

The children played in front of the light wall. They started making different shaped/objects with their bodies.

Self-portraits

         We began work on self-portraits today. 

Look for them on display by the end of next week. 

We visited the kitchen today!!

We went to the kitchen today to make playdough.

We discussed how we made it:

                      1.) Get water

                      2.) Put flour in

                      3.) Salt

                      4.) Colors

                      5.) Cream of tartar and oil

            We stirred it. We put it on the stove.

The discovery of clipboards

As friends were building in the block area, they noticed the clipboards that were available. The

children began writing and drawing. Another group discovered the clipboards in other areas of 

the room.

"What does this say?" - RJ to a teacher as he wrote a sequence of letters together

"Look, Ms. Heather, I wrote my name." - CF

 

         "I want to write dad." - RJ

After writing Dad, RJ commented, "That's it." 

And then we began to check out new spaces

We took a tour of our school!

Welcome back!!

We spent our first day back relaxing in the Green Room exploring new materials and getting to

know one another although our families were not far from our thoughts!!
