Throughout this week we have been discussing different colors. Today children explored the color blue. While reading Blue by Laura Seeger, they were noticing how the color blue was being used by the author. The connections were firing!
M: "There is a dog on every page"
B: "The person looks sad"
Miss Brooke: "How do y'all know?"
O: "His body and face look sad"
S: "Yeah, that is what you look like when you are sad"
O: "That is just like this book!" *points to The Color Monster*
Many children made connections to the book, which is a wonderful literary skill. Throughout our discussion we were able to hear text to self and text to text connections!

We continued our exploration by inviting children to make a stained glass painting by using chalk. Some children chose to wet their chalk by dipping it into the water.
M: "Look how dark it got!"
We were able to collaborate with Sycamore room on the stained glass art and children were exchanging ideas amongst each other. Children were able to see themselves as artists and experiment within the same medium.
