Happy Wednesday! We're halfway through the week and we've had a great past few days. This morning one of our choices was blocks with cars, letting the students figure out how to build ramps and speedways and whatever else they wanted. Some friends decided to do dominos!
A: We're doing dominos. Whoever builds it gets to push it down!
C: We should make it in a circle and they'll fall over!
After building their circle, our friends knocked the first block down. Unfortunately it didn't go as planned!
A: It didn't work!
E: We should make it a square! A square will go down at the same time!
So on our friends went, building their square, confident that this new shape would work better than the last.
After the first side of the square fell, the other didn't. This shape required our friends to knock down one side at a time. Which prompted one friend to say:
C: Let's do a straight line!
A: Yeah! A straight line will work!
E: Let's do it!
So on to the next domino shape our friends went. And this time...it worked!
C: A straight line worked! All the dominos fell down!
A: Let's do it again!
We also went to the sculpture park and we found a monarch caterpillar! We talked about how it was going to turn into a butterfly, and how we needed to just look, and not touch. But they had a great time observing. We even found some more monarch caterpillars to watch! It was an exciting day :)
