Following their Lead

We knew that this year would be very unique just like last year. As we prepare invitations for children, we think about all of their different interests. Normally at this point the children have gravitated toward a particular set of invitations and a project begins. However, some of the changes we are noticing is children are interested in so much. Today and everyday, we are following their lead! 

In our sensory area, children have the opportunity to play with a sensory tray instead of an entire bin. Sometimes they decide to work together and sometimes they will play alone. Today they were interacting with each other in their own space. 

T - Picking up the trash. Picking up the trash. Picking up the trash. Picking up the trash. Picking up the trash.

E - Hello! I need help! 

C - What do you need? 

E - I need a dump truck

C - Here you go

C - Oh no! Here comes a boulder! 

T - Oh no! All my trash will get ruined

C - Who needs a dump truck? Dump truck anyone? 

E - Oh no! I can't see where I'm going! My truck!!! (truck flips over, "powering down" sounds)

T - Help help help help help help help help

C - On my way! Digging has started

T - Poop is everywhere!

C - It's raining poop! 

E - AHHHHH! 

C - Miss Brooke POOP IS EVERYWHERE!

Throughout the morning, children were building different ramps for their cars to go on. Some children were trying other objects to see. 

Throughout our small group time, some children were playing a game called "Make It". They would pick out a rock with a number on it. Then they would make it on the 10 Frame. Some children experimented with different ways to make a number (some buttons and some butterflies). Other children were drawing different emotions on dry erase boards. They had mirrors in front of them to make a face and try to create it!
